ATS Resume Checker: Match Your Resume to a Job
Upload your resume and paste the job description. See your match score, how well you show each requirement, the keywords you're missing, and what to fix first.
How it works
- 01Upload your resume as a PDF (it's read in your browser, the file is never uploaded) or paste the text, then paste the job description.
- 02Keywords from the job post are pulled out and checked against your resume instantly, for free, before anything leaves your device.
- 03When you run the match, both texts are sent to Jev, TypeSafe's System One model, which rates how well your resume shows each requirement, from not shown to strong evidence. Your match score is the weighted average, with nice-to-haves counting half.
- 04Your weakest requirements become fixes, with a draft bullet for each from Gemini. Nothing is stored except an anonymous cache of the result, keyed by a hash of the two texts.
Questions
What is an ATS score?
Applicant tracking systems (ATS) like Workday, Greenhouse and Lever store your resume and let recruiters search and filter it. An "ATS score" is a rough measure of how well your resume matches a specific job's requirements and keywords. There's no single official score; each system and checker calculates its own.
What is a good resume match score?
Above 75% here means your resume clearly shows most of what the job asks for. 60–75% is a reasonable application that would benefit from tailoring. Below 50% usually means either the role is a stretch or your resume isn't showing experience you actually have.
How do I match my resume to a job description?
Use the job's own words for skills you really have, put the most relevant experience first, and turn bare skill lists into bullets that show where you used each skill and what came of it. Fix the requirements marked "not shown" or "mentioned" first; they move the score most.
Should I add keywords I'm missing?
Only where they're true. Recruiters read resumes after the ATS does, and a keyword with no evidence behind it shows. If you've done the thing under a different name ("Postgres" vs "SQL"), use the job's term; if you haven't, leave it out and lean on what you have.
Is keyword matching enough to pass an ATS?
No. Most ATS software doesn't auto-reject on keywords alone; recruiters search and skim. That's why this tool scores each requirement on evidence, not just whether a word appears: a skill shown in a real bullet with a result counts for more than one listed in a skills section.
Why can't it read my PDF?
Scanned or image-only PDFs have no text layer to read. Export your resume from Word or Google Docs as a PDF, or paste the text directly. Unusual multi-column layouts can also scramble the order, so check the extracted text before you run the match.
Is my resume kept private?
The PDF is read in your browser. When you run the match, the resume and job text are sent to Jev to be judged and to Gemini for draft bullets, then the result is cached anonymously under a hash of the text. There's no account. Remove your phone and address first if you prefer.
